    New Marlin xt22m

Went to sportsmans yesterday not expecting to buy anything. Got a little excited when they actually had a ruger American 22 mag.

Been jonesing for a 22 mag for a few years now so after fondling that I went and paced around. The LR version is on sale for 249 but the wmr was 269.

So after wandering a little more I went back and looked at the other offerings. And the marlin caught my eye. And was only 219! I still went back and forth but just liked the look and feel of the wood stock a little better and the price difference helped too. I did really like the sights on the American though.

How'd i do? I know I didn't steal it but price was fair and it was in stock. Anyone like theirs? Ammo suggestions?

I love my MT-22M! The new wood stocks Marlin are using are great! I've only shot CCI through it, but I haven't had any problem with it either.

        Hi,

I am a newb to Marlin XT-22. Would you please tell me the difference between new and old wood stocks? Thank you!

To OP: I believe you made a great choice, enjoy!

The old wood stocks were just the plain brown (printed-looking) stocks:

The new ones look much better, IMO:

So it should be interesting I have been snapping up LR ammo like crazy for the last few months close to 10k rounds and have been passing on the wmr

I wonder if I will see any ammo anytime soon. I have a co worker willing to trade for LR so I can get a few different ones to test with

22WMR pops up more often for a decent price IMO than 22LR.

Trying to get some more ammo now I did score some vmax a maxi mag 40 and 30 gr hp and some remington soft points

My Marlin 925M, predecessor of the XT-22M prefers CCI Solid Point Maxi-mags. She shoots 5 shot MOA group @ 100yds, sometimes with that ammo. She doesn't like any of the 30 grain ammo. Of course YMMV as with any rimfire rifle/ammo.

Where are you located nitis? I ask because I know a place near Sacramento that has 22WMR in-stock.
