    Ruger SP101 22LR

I am seriously cosidering putting one of these in jail, Before I "pull the trigger" so to speak, I wanted to see what you guys think of that pistol. I currently have the GP100 in 357 and love it. My other possible is the Ruger single six (10 shot older stylring 22LR revolver)

Thoughts on these two? Other options to consider for a 22LR revolver?

I love my SP101 enough that it's my regular carry during snake season. I love .22lr too. BUT, I can't justify the price when I have other .22lr revolvers already.

Other options? Try to find a Model 34-1. It is one fine revolver. I was considering getting a Ruger SP101 and rented it. The trigger was a bit too stiff for me. I fortunately found a Model 34-1 and I am very happy with it. I think Rugers are fine guns, too. I just feel that the Smith's action is a bit smoother.

      Good luck!

        I have an old 6 shot SP101 in 22 and a new 357.
        Love them both!

Great gun but I found the stock grips too small for my hands. I put on the Hogue mono grips and it feels much better. The action smooths out with shooting/ dry firing but will always be heavier because it is a rimfire.

I have a couple of Single Sixes and they are never a bad choice.

This is the best basic .22 revolver with one problem, hammer spur is too narrow and hard to cock, wish they gave it a wide hammer spur like a bearcat. Grips are small but can be changed. I have two of the best .22 target revolvers, S&W model 17 and model 617 but they are too expensive now for training pistols.
I had to sell my brother my first SR101 .22 because it was the best pistol for him to start his training, but I made up for it by ordering 3 more this week. (need for training First Step Classes) Will be doing a DROS a month for a while.

I have heard the double action trigger pull is pretty bad on the SP101 .22LR, so I would go for the single action.

Just shoot the SP101 in single action.
Why limit yourself to ONLY single action?
