*** Let's keep this going for 2014*** Need free ammo for your kids to shoot?

    Edited for this Christmas season.
I am going to keep going with this this year (2014). If you have a child with a new .22 (Christmas present or whatever reason) and you can't find ammo I want to help. Even if it isn't a new gun but you can't find any ammo for your kids, let me know. I am in the Modesto area and can meet up anywhere close within reason. There have been others in this thread who have said they will help in other areas. I suggest if you are going to post a request for ammo in this thread to include your location. A post that says, "Yeah, I need some ammo for my kid" may not get a response if we don't know where you are. Thanks again to all who have joined me in this idea I stole from fellow Calgunner CSACannoner.

P.S. I will also be happy to show anyone who is interested how I managed to find the .22 ammo that I have. There is a ton of info in this sub-forum on that, though. You just have to look around a bit.

We should have other people chime in on this thread and offer the same throughout CA. I will cover 50 rounds to East county San Diego. Come on calgunners get in here and help a kid smile!

What a nice offer. You meet some for the nicest people on CalGun's.
I also bought my son a 22 for Christmas about five years ago.
      Magic moments.

In the spirit HDawg, I will match your offer AND double it!

        B U T .......

How does this work so that we are not taken advantage of?

I am in Santa Cruz mountains ... can I direct my pledge to locals?

There were two reasons I decided to give 50 rounds at a time. One is so that I can help more kids. The other is to make it not really worth someone trying to scam me out of ammo. If someone feels like they need the ammo enough to take 50 rounds away from a kid, then I guess I will get scammed. I'm not going to worry about it though. I believe the average Calgunner is better than that. As to where you give away your ammo, that's up to you!

              As a follow up ...

What about legal implications? I mean, I love attention as much as the next guy,
but ending up on the six o'clock news as the "Old guy who gave ammo
to the teen that shot up his home room class", isn't my idea of warm and fuzzy.

Where is that Librarian guy that is always closing threads anyway?
Are we liable for damages that result from us giving ammo away?
Is this a well intentioned, but precarious idea?

HDawg did you consider that part of it?

Not trying to be a grench, but ????

If I gave away ammo and something bad happens with that ammo,
am I going to have a bad day because I gave ammo to strangers?

HDawg did you consider that part of it?

And I'm not sure what you mean about loving attention, but I am not doing this for the attention. I just want to do what little I can to keep the love of guns and shooting alive.

Not trying to be a grench, but ????
I will not be giving ammo to anyone I don't know if they are underage. I will be giving ammo to their parents/grandparents for the kids to use. Each of us has to decide for ourselves what they are willing to do and how much we are willing to risk. If there is a risk, I will have to live with it.

                  Hdawg;

I was not funnying you in any way. Perhaps I phrase things strangely.
I like your idea, I think it should be followed up on, but I fear it is an open
door for us to be litigated on.

I like the idea of giving. I like the idea of supporting our hobby/passion/interest. We both know that shooting is a dieing thing. Kids are taught
now that guns and smoking are evil. It is a tide we can not turn.
America will eventually be smoke and gun free, not in our lifetime, but later.

I will pose the question of our liability in the legal area.

If we can be held harmless I will make some effort to spearhead
your idea and movement ... if that is okay with you.

Good on you. I'll be giving a couple bricks of .22 lr for Christmas to cousins/uncles who have not been able to shoot their .22s for a year because they "can't find any ammo".

Luckily, I have enough ammo for him to shoot it whenever we have the time to get to the range. It would have been horrible if I couldn't have taken him shooting with his new rifle because I didn't have and couldn't find ammo. That got me to thinking about kids getting there first rifle this Christmas. I would hate to think that some kid couldn't shoot his new rifle because of a lack of available ammo, or worse, not getting the rifle at all because of the ammo situation. So, with credit to fellow Calgunner CSACannoneer for the idea, I want to help.

If you are in the Modesto area and buy your child or grandchild a 22 rifle for Christmas and can't find ammo for them, I will help. I will provide 50 rounds to five kids to shoot their new rifles after Christmas. I figure it is the least I can do to help keep our shooting heritage alive.

                      Merry Christmas!

Hdawg - this is inspiring! I saw CSA Cannoneer's post, too.

kcjr1125 - good challenge! So yes, here's my offer:

                      300 rounds for 3 kids (100 each).

                      Two conditions:

                      1) Local pickup in Burbank

                      2) Show proof that the kids used the ammo (pics would help and if posted here on CG, even better, to inspire other members).

                      PM me.

This is great. If anyone in the Modesto, Manteca area needs ammo for kids, grand kids, nephews, shoot me a PM. I'm good for 100 rounds per child

I've got 5 fifty round boxes, one each to adults giving rifles to kids or grandkids this Christmas in the Rocklin/Roseville area.

PM me to work out details.

If someone wants to scam me out of $2 worth of ammo that's on them. As far as liability, anyone over 18 can buy ammo at Wal-mart, why would my liability be any different than theirs.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

I'm in. I'll ask that any adult who bought a kid a .22 to show up with reciept for the rifle.

100 rounds to anyone willing to come to Livermore and pick it up.PM me here.

Also kudos to CSA Cannoneer for getting this going.
