    Tactical Solutions .22Lr uppers

Anyone have/shoot a Tactical Solutions .22Lr uppers assembly on their AR?

Quality looks good, similar top S 7 W internals.

Are they reliable? Accurate? (with what ammo?)

    Price $625-650 seems steep.

Never had one, a lot of people like them though. I personally have a cmmg, but just FYI... 549.99 choice of 3 tac sol uppers, 5% off Black Friday discount and free shipping over $500. Leaves you at $520 ish OTD.

Seems like quite a bit of asking money. Wonder how the Tacsols stack up against the ULW upper.

I would highly recommend going with a CMMG .22 lr upper instead. Spare parts are much more readily available, costs less money and is going to be just as reliable(if not more so) and just as accurate.

I picked up one for a smoking deal when they first came out years ago (Tac-Sol). It's a great system and I've gotten my money's worth, but I did have some tuning issues where the whole rifle had to be sent in.

After reading this thread, a lot of stuff makes sense:

I've been eyeing one of these for a while and I'm feeling pretty close to pulling the trigger on buying one. I understand that they changed the bolt design a while back and fixed some issues..is there

And yes, the CMMG has a lot of options, like bolt-hold open, mp15-22 mag adaptor, etc. Lots of time when looking at 22 conversion parts/accessories/upgrades, I see the following line: "Will not work with Tac-Solutions"............

I've sat down 3 times to type this and haven't finished it once. Let's see if I can get all the way through it.

I have a Tacsol .22LT and a Taccom .22 pistol upper. They are both really nice uppers and shoot well. The Taccom uses a ceiner type bolt while the tacsol uses a bolt that is based off of the 10/22 bolt. That is why some of the items are not compatible with it. It's a bit of a bummer that things like the bolt hold open adapter, etc don't work with the tacsol.

Both of these rifles have been out to the range once. The taccom ran flawlessly and was a lot of fun right out of the box. The tacsol was a little temperamental at first, but after 200 rounds or so the reliability was much improved. Some of my issues could have been the fact that I was running a JP yellow spring for the hammer spring. Though the JP yellow springs work fine in my M&P15-22 they didn't work so well in the tacsol upper/80% QD lower.

In my opinion, Tacsol makes a good product and you can't go wrong with their stuff. They are a small company which is nice to deal with. Taccom also makes stuff you can't go wrong with. CMMG is the mass produced monster in the market. Their stuff seems to work pretty well, but I haven't used their .22LR stuff. I almost did, but went with the taccom upper instead and have no regrets.

The Tacsol is on top and the Taccom is on bottom. Yes I have a tax stamp for the SBR so it is legal as pictured.

I have the TacSol upper on a Spike's lower as well. I can't compare it to any other .22 ARs since its the only one I have... Its been pretty good to me since I found which ammos it likes best. Fed 525 bulk (blue box) is the best for me; CCI "tactical" 22 a complete no-go. Minimags are good and even Eley Sport non-plated fed well, if dirty. As far as accuracy I found it to be all I expected and used it at Appleseed to shoot Expert/Rifleman. Its good once its sorted. It will not work long-term with certain after market trigger groups like Geissele.

ps 625-650 seems steep to me, too. Have they gone up that much? Ah--drh777 has a link to a decent price but still higher than before...but isn't everything?

Agree with ^^^^^ on the price. I paid under $500 for mine a few months back off of gunbroker from a shop that buys a lot of Tacsol. They had the upper on gunbroker and I just called direct.

thanks for all the info, I do like the dedicated upper concept and would like to purchase some of the Tacsol parts (bolt Assy.) to build my own upper, but they don't sell them separately.

The cost of a S & W AR22 is almost the same and internal look like Tacsol.

I've got my own mill/lathe and a new takeoff Anschutz M54 barrel I think I will try grafting to an Ceiner/Cmmg bolt assy. minus .223 chamber insert.
