To keep it short, will I be able to build an AR-22 using the Aero COP as my upper receiver? I plan on using the CMMG BCG, .22 collar and, folding gas block sight and E.R. Shaw spiral fluted barrel. The idea is to replicate the Colt LE6940 but with a spiral fluted barrel.

AR22 Build with Aero COP?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able too - it can take standard barrels. Just get a higher twist rate than a normal AR (1:16 to stabilize the 22lr) on your barrel. -
I don't see why either but just making sure because I spend the money only to find out something does't work. It happens to me all the time (lazy and lack of research).Comment

it should probably work fine since it is mil-spec other than the integral rail. Good luck on the project sounds like its going to wicked.Comment

Does that upper also come with a lower rail/handguard? How does that work? (sorry to hijack thread)Comment

Thanks man. I can visualize it in my head, I just hope it will turn out as good as I imagine it. The part I don't quite understand is how to tell E.R. Shaw where I need the barrel fluted and where they need to leave space for the gas block sight. If we are talking about a mid length setup it should be the same place and same amount of space for every barrel right?
The alternative is to go with a CMMG barrel and have Adco spiral flute the between between the gas block and the muzzle. This is cheaper and easier. You can't see the barrel under the handguard anyways.Comment

You dont need a gas block on an AR-22...the CMMG bolt is all blow-back operated. You could always mount the sight on the upper rail.Last edited by wavelengthsf; 11-19-2013, 11:44 AM.Comment

It's a monolithic upper so the handguard is integrated. You can choose different configurations for your hanguard at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock position. You choices are full length rail, half length rail or no rail.
My gas block is going to be my front sight tower. I know I don't need one, but I'm picking a gas block front sight because of the looks and because I can fold it.Comment
