I just bought a new Ruger Mk III Standard and have a few observations about it. It'll be helpful to get inputs from those of you who also have experience with the Standard model.
Ammo:
I don't know if it's because the feeding ramp isn't broken in, but my gun doesn't like the Federal 550 value pack. Every other shot is a failure to feed.
(As an aside, my Ruger 10/22 eats everything.)
Federal Auto Match, Winchester M-22, CCI Stinger, Mini-mag, and Winchester Super speed, all had no problems.
Accuracy:
Out of all the ammo that fed without a problem, the Federal Auto Match was least accurate. I had the worst grouping with it. Out of the 10 round mag, there's always 1 or 2 wayward bullets.
And another funny thing is, my groupings with my Glock 17 were tighter than with my Ruger Standard. Here's my theory. I have a laser mounted on the end of my Glock, which is helping the barrel stay down. However, since the barrel of the Ruger Standard is tapered, I'm not maintaining follow through after the shot.
I was expecting a quarter size grouping with a 22, but it's not the case.
