Unlikely you did any harm. I just shoot the thing & swab with a solventy patch.
Couple things you should be aware of when cleaning your 10/22. The receiver is painted. Anything like Powder Blast, copper fouling solvent, brake cleaner etc. will make the paint goo up & make a dawgawful mess.
The trigger housing is plastic. Again, don't use harsh solvents and especially not Powder Blast. It has an ingredient specifically made to attack plastic shotgun wad residue. I use Birchwood Casey plastic safe aerosol.
I rarely brush the bore. A few passes with a Hoppes soaked patch followed by an oily patch should be GTG.
A worthwhile upgrade is to drill a 1/4" hole in the rear of the receiver so you can brush from the breech end. Brushing/swabbing from the muzzle end can damage the crown. Directions are online."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
