Black Dog Machine X-Form Rebuild Kits

    Hello,

I recently ordered some BDM AR 15-22 X-Form 26rd rebuild kits. I've been searching for magazine blocks or a method to limit them to 10rds. Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in my search.

Does anyone make mag blocks for the AR15-22 BDM mags?

If not, how do you limit your mags?

    Thanks,
    Jay

If you look at the 10 rd version of the Black Dog mags they are actually 15 rd mags with some plastic molding about 1/2" thick about a third of the way down the ridge that the follower travels down. You can make something like that with epoxy on a rivet or drill a hole and insert a screw and use red loctite on a nut in the interior. Take the 10 rd version apart and you'll see what blocks it.
I don't really see the point in having a blocked 25 rd BDM mag. the 10 rd mags work just fine. I think the only way to make it "permanant" is to epoxy the screws that hold the mag halves together and thats no bueno cuz the things will get dirty and you'll need to completely take them apart from time to time. The metal feed lip ones are great.

      I completely agree.

I got rid of all of my 10/30 AR mags because they are just non-functional window dressing. Too long for bench shooting, too long to store in a safe or rifle bag; all for a lousy 10 rd mag.

Black Dog makes a fine 10 rd mag, more reliable than the 26, IMO. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. I have 26 rd BDMs rebuilds for appropriate shooting sessions with my 522, I don't feel the need to have a neutered one at the range.

I bought some of the 10 round BD magazines w/ metal lips that look like Vietnam Era 20 round M16 magazines and and 100% pleased with them.

Yeah. Why have a long mag that gets in the way for nothing? For bench shooting, something about as long as the pistol grip works better. I always used the 20 round AR mags for that reason.

Don't forget BDM has 15 round mags. These seem just about right to me.

People just getting into AR's have to have the 10/30's and forward grips.
