looking for .32cal. rimfire for Smith or Wesson hangun

A friend of mine showed me a small handgun made in 1865 he told me. The cylinder is detachable and holds 6 cartridges. He said it was (I think) either a Smith or Wesson. It was made before the company became Smith & Wesson.. He is looking for .32cal. rimfire ammo. He told me he cant find any or at any gunshows. I don't know how many gunshows he goes to. He lives here just south of San Francisco.
I looked online but don't know what to look for. He has 6 cartridges; not fired and they look like longs or LR.
Can anyone let me know what to look for with the various ammo websites?
    thanx.
