Threaded Barrel on the Sig 1911 22LR

I just picked up a Sig 1911 22 today. The Spec's indicate that the barrel is threaded, for compensators and such.. Is this true for the CA compliant models?

it would be considered an illegal AW if a semi-automatic pistol with a detachable magazine had a threaded barrel.

other handguns have had permanent thread protectors epoxied on to disable those threads and avoid an AW ruling. not sure what SIG is doing for this gun. you picked it up today, what does the barrel look like?

The barrel is threaded but the cap was put on with JB weld or red lock tight...
If you got a barrel wrench with your GSG/Sig and the cap has a groove, it may be illegal in CA...

It does look like there's a separation between the front end of the barrel and the barrel itself like there's a cap however there's no groove for the wrench. I'm sure to make it CA compliant and to keep manufacturing consistent it is a cap but make it difficult to remove. I didn't know if anyone here in CA has removed or attempted to remove the cap, if it is indeed a cap on their Sig 1911 22. As soon as I figure how to post a picture on here, I'll do so. Thanks!

In order to make it CA legal, manufacturers/distributors* use a different muzzle cap (one without the wrench flats) and "permanently" affixes it to the threaded barrel instead of using a non-threaded barrel.

*This is being done by Umarex (S&W, Walther) and GSG (GSG, SIG).

If it is like the Walther, the cap will come off after heating with a small torch, like the chefs use. Heat until it's hot, not changing color, and cool, then reheat. Use a pair of padded channellocks, copper tubing will work well. As far as the Walther goes, you can order caps and a wrench from Earl's Walther repair site, don't know about the threads on the others. I did not tell you this, and I was never here.

ol shooter might be right but whats the point? we cant have any cans on it so unless your doing it for a fake can or something just might not be worth the trouble/headache - some stupid jerk atf/leo at a range tryin to make a name etc

CW accessories makes a nice compensator for the gun. It's not a "noise suppressor"... I was just curious if any able bodied shooters here in the beautiful sate of suppression, gun suppression that is, were able to remove the cap. I'll probably leave it alone. Not worth the hassle. Thanks guys, aim small!

I took the cap off my Walther so I could use the Target kit I bought. Shoots real nice with it too. Sure wish the state government would get their heads outta their butts over things like this.
