    22 semi auto

So a few months ago I was looking at the ruger sr22 as a trainer for my wife. I regret not getting it when I had the chance now I'm looking for something to fit the bill. I would like something da/sa to give her the same feel as her 226 in 9mm. Any suggestions ?

Does Sig make a .22 conversion for the 226 or how about a Sig Mosquito?

There is a 22 conversion kit for the 226 and 229 available, but reviews on them have been less than good. Cost on one of these kits will run you approx $250.

I'd say you'd be much better off with the mosquito as its the 85% version of its full sized brothers (226/229). Cost would be approx 400 OTD new...or pick up a nice used one.

      Good Luck!

Do not buy a mosquito!!!!! Piece of crap!!!

Its a jam-o-matic. The instructions that come with the pistol tell you to use CCI mini-mags. But it still jams. I know you don't want to hear it , but if you buy a regular Ruger 22 pistol Mk III or any of these models, they will feed anything

M&P 22 is solid, mine shoots anything I put in it (so far Remington Gold, Federal 550's, CCI standard, and some Whinchester white box). I also have a Walther P22.....it's decent...first pull is horrible, after that its okay

I also vote NO Mosquito---my shooting buddy bought one new with two mags and came with two recoil springs---NOTHING worked---we tried every bit of ammo we could buy (before recent 22 ammo panic)---both springs---NOTHING worked---probably the worst pistol available---in my opinion...

yet another vote against the Mosquito.

I firmly beleive that there are only 3 semi-auto 22 handguns in current production worth owning (yes I know I am going to catch all kinds of crap for saying that)

I have an m&p22 it eats everything I put in it. Including standard velocity ammo. Plus it's big enough for my hands.

Mosquito would be the closest to the 226 but like other's have said it's been problematic. It's very picky with ammo from gun to gun.

I have the M&P22 and so far has been great. I've feed it lot's of different ammo and shoots every single one of them.
