Finally took took the Mosquito to the range

Frikkin' love that thing. Only ammo it didn't like was CCI std velocity. It loved Mini-mags and M22. Although, I've had the same M22 issues I've had with other .22's Duds, low power. Mini Mags run flawlessly.

Thanks for the range report MH. Considering picking one of these up, but read they are finicky when it comes to ammo. I got plenty of mini mags (and m-22s) waiting to be fired, so if that's the only issue, I still might go for it.

I was looking into one, but heard they were picky. So I ended up with an m&p 22. It eats everything including standard velocity CCI. I may still pick up a Mosquito. How many rounds have you put through it?

A very good friend of ours does all the warranty work on the Mosquito at Sig. He is the one that told us about the hammer spring and a little trick when storing your Sig/GSG Mosquito, lock the slide open the hammer spring is the problem on these guns.
I always lock the slide open when storing it and I have no problems even when using RWS 40 gr HP sub-sonics.
Do NOT use CCI Stingers in the Mosquito the slide will crack after a few hundred rounds.

I never said it was. I said I stayed away from it because I heard it was picky. If you read the rest of my short post you'll see that I'll be thinking of picking one up, after I hear more about it.

I've had a mosquito for about 4 years and I absolute love it. I've pretty much only fed my mosquito Mini Mags without issue and havent changed the spring out (yet) and given standard velocity rounds a try. Some people hate on the gun but I love it. My buddy bought a walther p22 at the same time I bought my mosquito and I like the feel of the mosquito better and IMO, its a way better shooter than the walther p22. Plus, my wife likes shooting the mosquito because while it feels like a big gun, it doesnt have the snap of a big gun.

Oh and by the way, I dig the reverse two tone. I have the original all black one. When I was in the market for mine, it was the only one I could find.

That's good to know, thanks. Any other warnings for higher-velocity rounds (like CCI Velocitor)?

I have had one for about 2yrs. Really like the gun. The feel, decocker, exposed hammer. They are a little picky about ammo, but when you find what they like, no problem. I shot a bricks of Blazer bulk (when you could get it) No problem at all with this bulk ammo. I was actually surprised how few failures there were. Maybe one in two bricks. I did shoot some Stingers, won't do that again because of the post (warning) above. This is my "go to" fun gun in .22LR. Quite accurate also. I also looked at the Walter, but was just too small in my hand. No regrets with purchase of the Mosquito.

I love mine and that baby is about 7 years old. Bought her when they first hit the market.

Had some issues with other ammo except mini mags, so for my peice of mind I have always used the mini mags.

And no spring issue, ftf, jam or anything else. Next Thursday I will be taking it out again along with a few others.

Thanks OP for the range report. I've been on the fence about getting one of these for a looooong time. I like its size and and the general aesthetics of the gun and it's also comfortable both in my wife's and son's little hands. But I've always been hesitant because of it being finicky with ammo I keep reading about despite one of my co-worker having one that eats pretty much anything you feed it. A lot of good information here helping me feel a lot more comfortable buying one if I see a two tone one at a good price.

                      Both RN and HP

Oh yes, I found those goodies when looking thru the case.

I love the controls, ergos as well. Feels great in the hand. and it's just 1 more Sig to the collection.

I bought a two tone one from target masters yesterday. You know how it is, once you start thinking about a particular gun, you can't stop until its in the collection! A perfect compliment to my p226. Hmmmmm, what's next, thinking the all stainless 226 in 40?

Heard that. That's how I ended up with mine. I held it, loved the rev two-tone and was hooked. Mine goes with my MK25.
Next? P220 Equinox with cherry grips or if they release the 227 Equinox...
