I think it's a must to have a rimfire. Amazingly accurate in a rifle and and perfect for training in a pistol. It's nice to have a change of pace after a fews sessions with the big guns; just MHO. Browning buckmark if you only want one...

A 22 LR carbine (16" barrel) is THE ultimate SHTF gun.

I recommend a manually operated repeater suspect a lever or pump action 22 LR. If you can't find a good deal then I'd recommend a Marlin 60 tube fed semi-auto. After that a 10/22.

You will always be able to buy a 22 conversion kit for any of your handguns.

Now go get that 22 rifle!

I love shooting my Savage Arms Mark II, as does my 9 year old daughter. The P220 conversion worked great. One FTF out of 40, but I have a LOT of lower velocity ammo to burn through before I hit the good stuff.

My thought too. The only reason for a pistol anyway is to shoot your way to get to a rifle.

10/22 rifle. If you shop around, OTD ~$250.00. They also hold thier price very well. Used ones sell for about the same as new. So, if you are really un-happy,
sell it with little loss. I will warn you now, once you start shooting 22s an realize how low cost it is compared to centerfire, there will be more 22s in your future.

Anyways rifle first manual or semi-auto. Just more useful all around. Long range short range.

.22 caliber firearms are like potato chips. You can't have just one.

Henry lever .22 - $250-$300, will take lr, l and short ammo. No mags to mess with as it's tube fed.
The Henry H001 is one of the best rifle I own and fun fun fun to shoot. We always take this rifle with us when we go shooting.

The best thing about this rifle is shooting 22 shorts. I think is hold something like 22-23 rounds and has less kick then a red rider BB gun.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Even my Mare's Leg will hold 15 shorts.

Long guns become registered starting 2014.
