Which Barrel for Red Jacket Zk22?

Ok so I'm expecting shipment of the RED JACKET ZK22 anyday now. I was reading on their website that I need at least an 18.5" barrel so that it will not qualify as an SBR. My purpose for this gun is a shtf rifle for my wife. She doesn't like other rifles such as AR/AK etc.

I'm leaning towards a flutted green mountain barrel in a 1:16 twist so I can use standard ammo which should be more available in a shtf scenario. I can't find any 18.5" barrels only 18" or 20."

Question is should I get 20" which I expect to be a bit heavier or can I get a threaded 18" so I can just put a muzzle teak on it? If yes on the 2nd choice then which muzzle break would you recommend?

Also would there be an advantage of getting a 1:9 twist?

Better to get the 20" and have it threaded. Weight difference is a non issue.

Check out Whistle Pig Barrels. They make an 18.5. I have one that's 17in fluted and compensated. It shoots like laser and looks great while doing it.
I just checked the website and they have 18.5 and it's labeled as being for the Red Jacket stock. Plus it's in stock.

If I got a 20" them there should be no need to get it threaded since its already meeting required oal

I'm not familiar with whistle pig barrels. How are they compared to green mountain barrel? Which compensator did you get? Is the compensator functional or mostly for looks?

You only need to pin/weld flash hider to make 16" barrel requirement. The 26" OAL can be accomplished with longer length of pull (butt stock extension) or non-permanent flash hider.

Yea, while it is not a zk22, I did a p90 air soft stock on a Marlin 795. I had to add about a 1" butt pad extension to get to 26" oal and added a 10/22 flash hider just to make it look proper and it is now 28" oal.
