    Best Value/Accurate Bolt Action 22?

Thinking of purchasing a super accurate bolt action 22. I used to have a cz 452 6 years ago as a gift but I traded it.

    Budget: $500 (scope/rings/mount not included)

Intended use: Bench rest/sometimes plink in the desert (scope. not iron sights)

I heard of Savage/CZ/Ruger but I don't know which exact models and the main differences. I have multiple 10/22's but no bolt actions

    Thanks for the input gentlemen...

I would like to start a poll but don't know which top 5 guns to consider.

    best value 22

Personal I like the old CZ 452 Varmint, then the new 455 Varmint or 455 Varmint Tacitcool. I also like the Ruger 77/22, but they are close the $700. You should check out the Rimfirecentral http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

Look into the Savage rifles and even some of the Mossy bolts out now

If you're already familiar with CZ then you know that they make very nice bolt actions. Either the new CZ 455 or the CZ Military Training Rifle can be had for under $500. The Military model is very nice and retails for around $369-399. I've never shot one, but checked one out at Turner's recently. The overall quality was exceptional, much better than the price point would indicate.

The Marlin XT-22 is another option. I've read that some people have had problems with canted sights and other fit and finish issues, but the ones I've seen have been very nice. If you do your due diligence and properly inspect the rifle before you purchase it, you can get an XT-22 for around $199. Most of the Marlin owners I've talked to say that they're very accurate right out of the box, and have had no problems.

Old Mossbergs can be hard to beat for the price. I use to shoot a $75 used M42 with a $150 optic in smallbore silhouette against +$1500 Anshultzes with +$1500 glass on them.

If you are looking for accuracy you also have to consider the cost of hi quality ammo in .22LR. You said 22LR bolt, but you might want to consider moving up to
17HMR. Compared to .22lr, 17HMR is scary accurate out to 100yrds and beyond.
Savage makes a .17HRM for a very resonable price. Top it off with a quality scope and you should still be at ~ $500.00 total.

Jake check out Savage 93R17 BTVSS with Mueller APV 4.5-14x40AO Silver.
The same rifle in 22LR would be good also.

                    Id go with CZ
I have 2 a 452 and a 455 and they outshoot anything Ive had before
yes Ruger and Savage make good guns but for the money CZ can't be beat

25 rounds back to back 100 yards, with the cheapo Savage 93R17 FV this is out of the box.
Course I like them CZ's also maybe some day.

For benchrest the answer is easy - CZ455 Varmint, plus a trigger kit.

I'll stick with 22lr due to cost and greater availability.

                          I'm now stuck between:

                          CZ455 varmint ($409/$456) or Savage Mark II BTV ($369/$456). . . . .Kygunco prices/MSRP

Any pros and cons between each other?
                          which one is more accurate?

opinions may vary but ive had a Savage before and while it could be accurate it wasn't consistently now both my CZ's have been consistently great shooters and my 455PT is a one inch gun at 100 9 out of 10 times
