    BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40mm

    Hey All,

I don't see much talk on this scope. Maybe I missed it, happens a lot. Is there anyone who has used this scope or is familiar with it? Its currently selling for about 65 dollars on amazon and i'm really tempted to buy it for my 10/22. Just want something for serious plinking where I can experiment with ranges out to 150 yrds or so.. between this and the nikon prostaff that everyone likes.. As always, thanks for all your help people.

I just bought one for $40 at SWFA and mounted it on my new Savage Mk II: http://swfa.com/BSA-3-9x40-Sweet-22-...pe-P42505.aspx

Pros: The reviews I read before I bought mine were all positive. Good optics and everything worked as expected. It comes with 3 elevation knobs, one each for 36, 38 and 40 grain ammo. The idea behind the "Sweet" series scopes is that it makes quick range adjustments a no brainer (the knobs are already calibrated for that ammo's range ballistics.

Cons: What I hadn't considered was that you have to remove, replace and adjust each knob for each weight ammo you decide to use. Unfortunately, because of the .22LR shortage my stock includes just about every type and weight of ammo you can imagine, which negates any advantage the Sweet knobs might afford me. If I were to do it again, I'd get a mil dot scope. Here's one others have recommended that's almost as cheap as the Sweet 22: http://www.walmart.com/ip/CenterPoin...Scope/17173797

I had one on my remington 597 and my only complaint was that the cross hairs were very thick on it, even when compared to a Barska scope that I have. Other than that it held zero and glass was clear enough for it intended purpose. As far as the adjustments being right on...hard to tell for me since I was shooting federal bulk 22.

When I handled one of the 3x9s at BassPro it was pretty heavy for its size.
The thick reticule wouldn't lend itself to shooting tiny groups on paper but should work ok for bunn getting at closer ranges.
