I built a dedicated .22 upper for my m&p lower. Used an m&p upper, cmmg conversion kit w/barrel, blackdog magazines. I tried 3 types of ammo,
Remington golden
CCI mini mag (choot 'em Landry signature series).
And some CCI hi velocity (steel case)
My problem:
With both the Remington and mini mag, when charged the rifle didn't go back to full battery, resulting in the firing pin not making contact with the bottom of the shell casing (no forward assist). Removing the mag and recharging then reinserting the mag worked to fire the original shot, but the follow up still would not close the bolt completely.
The steel case hi velocity worked perfect. Every time. I shot 3 full mags using it, without issue (couldn't shoot more as the ammo was borrowed from a friend.
I don't really want to buy a lot of the hi velocity as it is kinda pricey, and I have plenty of standard (Remington, mini mag, m-22).
I put some extra lube on the bolt, and I even lubed up a few of the cases that weren't working, all to no avail. The steel cased stuff was all that functioned.
So, aside from buying a crapload of the much more expensive hi velocity, I'm looking for suggestions as to what I might try next.
Sorry for the wall of text!
Thanks for you help!
