Replacing M&P22 CA barrel with Threaded Barrel

I recently moved to a better State, and it is no longer felonious for me to have a threaded barrel. But, I am stuck with a California model M&P 22. Does anyone know if it is possible to swap this barrel out for the threaded version?

It does look like there is a barrel nut on the end, just like the non-CA version, but instead of the usual indents for the wrench, it is just smooth. I am guessing it has just been permanently affixed. So, how permanent is it? Does anyone know, before I stick the thing in a vice and start cranking on it?

I'm guessing the barrel setup on the M&P22 is the same as it was for the P22. in that case, the barrel is threaded and they put a smooth-sided barrel nut instead of a barrel nut with wrench flats and used red loctite to permanently attach it. that was the only difference between the CA P22 and the 49-state P22.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Thanks for the response. I figured it was something like red loctite. Any thoughts on how to get that off without melting the damn gun?
