    .22 for Seven year old?

Whats up brothers my oldest is turning seven in a few months and I feel she is ready to learn to shoot a rifle. I have taken her to the rifle range before and I have let her pull the trigger on one of my Ar's. I think she is ready. I have never owned a .22 caliber rifle in my life my first rifle was a model 94. So yea point me in the right direction if you will guys. I used the search function and googled but I want my own thread to take reference from all of you guys my calguns brothers! Thanks Russ

I like the idea of single shot bolt action for safety and engraining fundamentals. I picked up a Savage Rascal (for 7 year old girl). About $150 plus tax and BS...tiny little thing weights maybe 2 pounds. I think that might be the biggest deal...little kids just don't have the strength to hold up much of a rifle.

When sighting it in, I was surprised at the quality and accuracy.

Ruger Cricket. Perfect youth rifle, short length, not to heavy for them to hold up. Single shot bolt so they can tune up their safety, breathing, balance and control. Shop around, used ones show up for cheap. Good dad, show them young, I did with mine and am working with my grandkids now. They're working a old Winchester pump gallery gun now and loving it! Me to.

My son is 7 and I really want to get him a Crickett as it is the perfect size. he shoots a Marlin 795, and a Ruger 10/22 but they really are much too big for him if not on a table.

Cricketts are also great pack rifles I hear.

I learned at age 9 with a single shot bolt action 22. Good first rifle.

Check out the new Ruger American rimfire .22Lr compact. It has interchangeable stock lenghts. So as she grows you can adjust the length.

I heard Msrp for around $300

Heeres a good review on it

Shooting prone I shot much better with heavier rifle though as a kid.

Any suggestions on getting kids used to the noise at the range? It's tough w so many people shooting higher caliber stuff.

For my 9 yr old son I have a Ruger 10/22 carbine installed in a Blackhawk adjustable stock. He has been shoring this since he was 7, and it's perfect for him.

This is my oldest son who is now 16. When this was taken he was only about 2 1/2 yrs old. 10/22 has always been his favorite.
