    Ruger 22/45 reassembly help

I just installed the tandemkross bushing mag disconnect and can not get the gun back together! When I install the bolt, it will not go in without forcing. The mainspring housing will not fully close and the bolt will not pull out. Have been at it for hours and just give up!

    DO NOT FORCE ANYTHING!

First of all are you 100% sure the internals went back in together correct like the hammer and bushing?

Edit to add: If your bolt is stuck partially in then its probably hung up on the hammer being in the wrong position.

Make sure the hammer is in the cocked position. IE laying towards the back, flat.
Make sure the tail of the hammer is not stuck anywhere
Try pulling the trigger as you try to insert the bolt.

    Once Bolt is in:
Insert Mainspring pin into Frame / Bolt. Push in on the bolt a tiny bit if you have to.

Now holding the gun up in the air so you can see into the frame
Push the hammer fully forward into the decoked position.
Make sure the tail of the hammer is hanging free
Slowly close the Mainspring ensuring that the tail of the hammer is aligning with each other. If they are you should feel some tension this is a good sign. Push the Mainspring into the grip and close the hook part.

If any of that does not work then tell me how far it gets you and whats going wrong and Ill explain more. All the above is from memory. Might be missing something or something wrong but that's pretty much it I think.

It's tough to say without knowing exactly what you did right and at what point it went wrong. So, see if you can go backwards and disassemble and start from scratch. Go slow, be patient.

don't force a thing - your doing something wrong if you think that will help.

okay pull trigger to reset the hammer which is in the way

watch the reassembly video on you tube - saves hours of frustration.

hint point gun up to get the hook pin to go into gun at the last

Congrats! The Tandemkross bushing mod is GREAT!!! Mags fly out when you eject them too. Not sure if you got the Ultimate Clip Loader too, but that device is worth it's weight in gold! Just use a mist of silicone lube spray every handful of ammo that you put in the hopper and it works like a charm!

As for disassembly and reassembly, I have a large rubber mallet that I have to use. Mine is fit pretty tight. Even after about 2k rounds, it takes a few good whacks.

Oh! One other tip, you may want to take some fine grit sandpaper to smooth out the channels on your mags and some of the rough edges to make them cycle more smoothly.

                Happy shooting and be safe!

It's difficult to trouble shoot your issue without either pics or a more in depth explanation of what exactly is wrong.

I've found that sometimes, disassembling and going back a step or two helps. Also, re-review the videos on reassembly. I'm at work on my iPhone, so I can't be of a whole lot of help, but I'm sure someone here can give you better direction if the above doesn't help.

Don't worry, you'll get it out back together.

                          Happy shooting and be safe!

Never take a 22/45 apart, but if you do have too, like I did after 30,000 rounds plus shooting Steel Challenge, use the Majestic Arms 2 piece take bolt pin to put it back together.
