Building No BB 22lr Ar-15, what lower?

I have searched and cannot seem to ind my answer. I want to build a dedicated 22lr Ar-15 without BB, does it matter i the lower I use is marked 223/556 or does it specifically need to be marked Multi?

It doesn't matter.
But just about every stripped lower at my LGS says multi on it anyways.
But to answer your question, it doesn't matter.

I just built a dedicated .22 platform, and decided to just go with the BB anyway. For two reasons:

1. Since the lower will also accept a higher caliber upper, I could if I choose, switch the .22 out for a 5.56. And it would not require a switch to a BB.

2. Just to avoid any possible hassles from ill informed RSO's, LEO's, or nosey a-holes.

I may get flamed for this, but its just my way to stay a step ahead of any possible issues. I not saying you (the general you) should do this, I'm just saying this is what I choose to do.

Besides, I could just leave the BB tool in the mag release while at the range to easily release the mags, and remove it for transport and storage.

I used a NFA poly lower and a Spikes 22LR upper, I have no intention of switching it to another larger cal, but can see why some would stay with a BB.

any lower will do, right now the side markings don't matter. There is no law against removing the caliber markings either. You just can't remove the serial number.

No only centerfire semiautomatic firearms. They were going to make rimfire semiautos AWs, but they removed rimfire from the current bill. So .22lr are still legal with detachable magazines and pistol grips.

True when talking about rifles but not with pistols.
A rimfire semiautomatic pistol could be an AW and need a magazine lock to not be one if it has an illegal feature such are a threaded barrel or a magazine outside the pistol grip, etc.
