No Ruger SR22 for me

Hi all,

Just back from Turners to buy an SR22 for my Ruger Takedown bag, but sadly it has fallen off the list. Any suggestion for a replacement purchase? I am looking for 22lr light and reliable. I am in the low $300 price range.

I didn't check first because it is in Turners fall flyer.

Turners printed a retraction on the sr22 but it only went on the online ad as far as i know. you'll get 100 different opinions on which semi auto handgun is best. the old classic ruger 22/45 will probably be one of the most recommended in your low $300 price range. i'll be getting one eventually. i'll log my vote for the issc m22. properly broken with around 500 rounds of cci, mine now flawlessly shoots bulk remington GB's. i'm about 2000 rounds in to it with no problems.

I would highly recommend either a Ruger 22/45 or MKIII, or a Glock 26 or 19 lower with a Advantage Arms .22 lr conversion kit.

For roughly 300$ I would take a look at a Ruger MKIII 22/45. Bang bang for your buck if you ask me. Everyone should own at least one MK of some sort!

S&W M&P22

Starts mid 300s - will finish 450.00 out door.

If you don't mind swapping a spring to switch between standard velocity lead round nose and high velocity plated lead round nose...

I was 389 otd with mine, eats everything including standard velocity ammo. I've seen them advertised for 329 so it would be less than what I paid.

If your goal is to have it fit in the side pockets of TD bag, I don't think a
S&W or Mark series will fit. I tried by Buckmark and it will NOT fit. My mosquito will fit. So your choices maybe mosquito or Wather P22 or similar. BTW: this would be a neat little package. Rife, pistol, and ammo in bottom pouch.

I would stay away from the Walther P22.

The one I shot was pretty inaccurate (3inch group at 15yds while my SR22 went into an inch and my MkII went into a single hole), it's designed to only cycle reliably with Mini-Mags (as per the Owner's Manual) and it's slide is cast zinc (which has had cases of coming apart in as little as 1000rds).

My MkIII 22/45 with a 4.5" barrel fits into the pocket on my 10/22 TD case. Turner's used to offer the 4.5" and 5.5" for the same price but I haven't seen the 4.5" version advertised lately.

save up some more money and get the M&P.22 mine eats everything with no problem, put over 1000 rounds down the pipe before I even cleaned it for the first time I didn't even put any oil on it, just ran it right out of the box

M&P 22 pistol, has been a lot of fun to shoot for me. The downside, that is minor, is outwardly it looks like a striker fire model of their bigger M&P line. But in reality it is a single action. So that means on a misfire, I can't draw the hammer back in and try again, because the hammer is internal.

Minor issue really.

If you do get the M&P 22, don't do what I did, and toss out the buffer with the dirty patches. I still can't believe I did that.

To me the mosquito is still too picky about ammo, and I'd prefer out of the box that the slide would stay open on the last round.

I don't think Ruger is going to microstamp anything. So we're out of luck on the sr22.

I've only had one FTF. I just reloaded the round pulled the trigger problem solved.
