is it possible to rechamber a model 60 to .22 mag??

im just wondering if it is possible to rechamber a marlin model 60 to .22 magnum? im thinking if it were possible it would probably not be cost effective? i love my model 60 and prefer it to a 10/22. i was just thinking how awesome it would be to have it in .22 mag.

The manual says not to do it.

You could chamber it but that is the easy part. The bolt does not have enough travel to allow the chambering in semi auto mode. The bolt and recoil spring are way to light to provide proper blowback action delay. The buffer would be toast in about one mag which brings us to the mag. The mag well is 22lr length it would be a expensive single shot that is very hard to load. The bullet and bore are a different size than a 22lr, pressure would be high. There are many reasons this is not a operable idea. Chambering is not one of them.

Hey Altahick, just buy a Marlin 25MN, awesome little mag, not to expensive. If we ever hook up again, remind me and I'll bring it along.

Can a model 60 shout 22 shot? Manual says it can.

thats pretty much what i thought. i was just wondering if it had ever been done before. i have been eyeing the savage B mag. i want something cheaper to shoot than my .243 that can still bust a prairie dog at 200-300 yds

The bullet diameter is a hair bigger in the magnum than the long rifle. It wouldn't be a good idea.
