Wasn't to keen on the S&W when it first came out with many OOB
blowups, hope they are cured because I just bought one. The S&W
has controls exactly like the M4 with a REAL bolt hold open, that
doesn't drop the bolt when the mag is removed! My daughter who is
25 wants to shoot my Colt M4 type so I can train her on the S&W. Pete

I am going to have to go with the S&W as well. The Colt is a Walther made in Germany, while the S&W is a S&W made by S&W.

Better then either of those would be a .223 lower with a .22lr upper. If you already have a center-fire lower, I would invest in a .22lr upper. Just get a multi-cal marked lower when you can.

Which one of these required that you loosen the muzzle break to split the upper and lower halfs? I thought it was the colt but maybe this has been changed since they first came out.

Are AR accessories such as Magpuls a drop-in fit in either rifle?

I've seen the S&W's with magpul furniture, only stocks and grips, can't say anything for sure about other magpul stuff.

Yeah that's the Colt. I have the S&W and my dad has the colt. Definitely go S&W. The colt is a PITA to break down and clean.

I'd def want to lean towards the colt because it's a colt, but I think the S&W would have less issues. but like draco said, better than that would be a lower with 22 upper.

Its made by Walther in Germany (I am being told this may not be true. It might be made by Umarex also.), imported by Umarex and licensed by Colt to bear its name.

                            stocks and grips are.

the S&W is the better choice IMO. Mine has THOUSANDS of rounds (almost 10k) and still shoots awesome.

It's my favorite gun I own. I have my Comp M4s on it and its stupid fun.
