Ruger M22/45 Mkiii parts and mod list, check me.

So I made the mistake of going to a gun store this morning and came home with a 22/45 Mkiii. I already have a 22/45 Mkii but didn't feel right modifying it and instead bought a mkiii with removeable grip panels for the modifying. It will primarily be used as a steel challenge gun and the plan is to use it in the Ruger Rimfire Championship coming up.

I already put a set of 1911 wrap around grips on it. A little trimming and all was good.

I will be doing the slingshot mod and removing the loaded chamber indicator.

The front sight will be replaced with a fiber optic from Tactical Solutions since they are down the street and I can pick it up. That's really dangerous for a guy that likes to buy gun parts.

On to the trigger. This is where I am getting confused. I am trying to create a nice trigger with limited excess travel that has a fast reset. I'm a little confused on if I use the Volquartsen Mkii kit or the Mkiii kit.

Here is what I think I know.

Mkii Accurizing kit VC2AK-S. More likely to just get the trigger and sear and forgo the rest of the accurizing kit. I'll polish the hammer and disconnector.
Mkii hammer bushing VCRHB Likely to go with the tandemkross bushing to delete the magazine disconnect.
    Bolt Tune up kit VC3FE.

Am I good to go. I would like to get this stuff ordered so I can get it installed and see how this gun works. I also came home with a 10/22 but that will be in a different thread.

    Should be good to go.
Since you got the MK2 Accurizing kit and the MK2 Bushing.
Many people nowadays get the MK3 kit and an aftermarket magazine disconnect removing MK3 bushing such as Sam Lam, Bam! or TandomKross.
But your method will work fine too.

Pretty much the only difference is the MK3 hammers have a cut out for the magazine disconnect so aftermarket magazine disconnect removing MK3 bushings have an extra teir or ring of metal to take up that slack. If you get an MK2 hammer it won't have that cut out so using a MK2 bushing will work.

A lot of people say don't use the lightened hammer that comes in the Accurizing kit that it creates light strikes but who knows if that will be the case on your pistol but that might be why a lot of people do the other method. Also a lot of people say use the stock springs and not the Accurizing kit ones. Again up to you.

I have never used the firing pin or extractor but I have heard good things about the extractor.

Might want to do the slingshot mod and remove the internals of the LCI too. Since both of those mods are free and do help imo.

Both of those mods are on my list. I haven't ordered the parts yet and was originally going with the Mk3 kit and the tandomkross bushing. Is one way better than the other?

^ I edited my first post to add some info.
Neither method is really better than the other.
You just want to make sure that your bushing and hammer are of the same MK generation.
I guess its more flexible to get the MK3 kit and an aftermarket MK3 bushing. That way if you're getting light strikes from the lightened hammer you can put the stock one back in and it will work.

Good info on the hammer and springs. Reliability is key and some recommended not using the hammer primarily because it was not needed and it saved some money. I think it makes sense to get just the trigger and sear and then polish the hammer and disconnector to keep everything smooth. I can get the Mkiii bushing and LCI delete kit from tandemkross at the same time

Yep. Mine is yellow, but it works pretty well. I wish they made them for a few other .22lr firearms I have.

OP, I'm jealous that you can go down the street to TacSol and go home with a PacLite upper for your Ruger. Sounds like you got a solid list of mods that's similar to mine. Here's my build list in the order that I did them.

Guys, please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere, but here're some thoughts and findings I ended up with after some research:

                  - Volquartsen accurizing kit. Yes, it's got the whole bunch of good stuff. You can buy one at MidwayUSA for about $100. People say it already includes the mag disconnect bushing, so you don't need to buy it separately from TandemCross. But on the other hand you also buy some pieces you don't really need. Extended bolt release is not for 22/45. Gone. Sear spring - people don't recommend to change it. Gone. Hammer? Maybe, but you can just polish the original one to have the same result. Gone. Trigger plunger/spring - not sure, maybe does make sense a little bit, but not much. The two really valuable things which make the real difference are the sear and the trigger. But it seems like the trigger is aluminium in the kit. You can buy a stainless one separately. So I scratched my head I finally bought only 3 pieces: TandemCross bushing, Volq sear and Volq stainless trigger. I guess that should be enough.

                  - Sights. You can buy a front/back set which is exactly what's on the Hunter model from shopruger.com for a reasonable price. I bought only the HiViz fiber optic front from amazon.com, but soon realized that the v-notch rear sight would be also nice to have. Well, the v-notch blade is just $5, but it's backordered *sigh*

                  - Grips. That was the first upgrade I did right away. Ordered them from Dominic Notaro. Highly recommend!

I didn't order the kit. I just ordered the trigger and the sear. I haven't settled on sights yet.

Accurizing kit does not come with a bushing. (unless there is a new kit I'm unaware of)
I agree there are a lot of pieces that you won't use in the kit so its best just to buy the trigger, sear and bushing separate unless you get a good deal on the kit.

                        One of customer reviews says:

The current version of this accurizing kit DOES include the required hammer bushing. (The older versions did not). So.... you do not need to order the bushing. Midway needs to make this clear in their product description and the photo of the current kit. Does anyone want to by a hammer bushing from me ( The hassle of sending it back for credit wasn't worth the few bucks it cost)

I ordered the SS trigger and the target sear plus the bolt tune up kit. I should have ordered a second extractor for my Mkii as I saw it leave a cartridge in the chamber when manually racking it to get that round out. Not sure if I didn't let it go all the way forward or if there is an opportunity on the extractor.

Anyway, the internal stuff has already been shipped. I'll order the bushing, LCI delete and another extractor tonight. It will arrive next week and I will have a project for the weekend.

Nice! On my 22/45 MKIII, I swapped my stock extractor for a VQ Exact Edge Extractor I bought as a spare part. I could distinguish the difference in performance.

I run a TK bushing and Dawson Fiber Optic Front sights. For the trigger group, I left it stock. Did a quick Polish mod, dropped the trigger break by 2lbs. Breaks right at 3.5LBS, which is perfect for me.

I've been meaning to look into a LCI Delete, but it's never given me a problem.

It's all on order. Got the TK bushing and LCI delete in SS. I'll get the other extractor at the shop up the street as wel las some stuff for the 10/22.
