    Dirty Hands

Why do my hands get so dirty with some ammo? Is it lead? Remington viper is worst.

"lead" round nose 22LR are not just bare lead they have a lubricant covering the bullets usually wax or tallow or some mixture of the two.

    Could be from unburnt powder

You do get lead on your hands from some ammo.Should always clean up with soap and cold water.

Cold so you don't wash it into your pores.

It could be the powder or the coating on the bullet.

Lube and lead. Even some plated rounds are lubed. Plus there is powder residue on the top of the magazine that you rub off when loading.

Don't forget to wash your hands. Or you could wear gloves.

I do wash my hands. But sometimes the dirty doesn't even come off w/ soap. Thanks for the tip on using cold water only.
