    M&P22 barrel swaps possible?

    Hello everyone,

I am in the market for an M&P22 and wondered if the barrels are swappable? Meaning - if I were to purchase a non-CA compliant version (originally bought out of state but seller moved to CA), could it be converted and legalized by purchasing a non-threaded barrel and dropping it in before PPT? Looking at a video online, it looks like 2 completely different barrel set ups between the CA version and the others.

Any insight would be great as I can't even find a parts list or schematic to show me how it all comes together.

    Thanks.

Yes. The barrel is not mounted to the frame.

The m&p22 is a blow back system. The barrel is mounted on the frame.

I literally just picked up the mp22 this morning so don't know much about the gun guts. My buckmark is also a blow back system, but i'm still able to remove/exchange the barrel. Can this be done with the m&p22? Thx

It looks like the you shoul be able to change the barrel on the non Ca. version by removing the sleeve then pushing the barrel back. Unless you can pull the sleeve of on the Ca. model I don't see how you could swap barrels without possible damage.

That is what I am thinking. It looks like the non-CA barrels have the sleeve that has the threads. Once the sleeve is removed, you can slide out the barrel from the frame. I am not sure how the CA barrel is set up. I am assuming that is will still have the small barrel with a sleeve to beef up the look.

Sounds like I will be calling S&W tomorrow for advice. Thanks for all the input.
