    Erma Werke ESG 22 WMR

My Dad handed down an old rifle to me recently. It's an Erma Werke ESG 22 chambered in .22 WMR. Looks like an M1

It had an old bushnell scope and so the original rear sights are gone
Anyone know where I could possibly find one? It still has the original sling and oiler.

I have yet to fire it, but it has been cleaned and lubed and action is smooth as butter.

    How rare are these things?

I remember seeing those when I was a kid. I think they made them for a long time because they were always in SGN and the local gunstores. If I remember right Erma is German (west) and they made those as military trainers. It should have some proof markings on top to tell when and where it was made. They seemed to dry up right around the 1st assault weapon ban (1990'ish timezone).

One of the SGN ads I saw.......... (maybe NRA magazine as well)

Ill give you $79.95 for it right now.

      Did more research...

Mine has excam markings, so it is between 1975-1985. It also has a 12 rnd magazine. And yes, made in West Germany.

Don't think I'll be selling it... But saw one go on gun broker for $800!

If this rifle were to run .22 WMR ammo smoothly, then I could see where it would sell for $800.00 on gun broker. Many .22Mags (autos) have issues. I don't blame you for not wanting to sell it. I've never seen one before.
