    My Marlin Model 60 Broke

This thing runs like a dream but the other day I disassembled it to clean it and when I tried to put it back it's no longer working.

The trigger feels hollow, what do I mean by that? it seems like it's not hitting anything, as if there was nothing behind it or something. I also believe I may have lost a VERY tiny spring.

I have disassembled and re-assembled this gun many times through out the years for cleaning so I doubt that I am putting things back incorrectly. However, I feel as if something is broken or missing but I just don't know what.

    Any suggestions?

Is this piece broken? or does it look like that regularly because I personally don't remember.

    Any help will be appreciated.

The parts circled are the transfer bar and the sear.
If you are asking should that be solid? No they are 2 different parts.
There should be a small spring that clips into a tiny hole in the rails of the action below those parts and the hammer. Is that the spring you are missing?
    Its kinda < shaped

Did you happen to de-cock the hammer (pull the trigger) when you had the trigger assembly removed?

They are, from left to right:
        (# 16: Ejector Lifter Spring, $6.43.)
        (# 17: Extension Spring, $2.73.)
        (# 43: Sear Spring, $2.73.)
        (# 15: Disconnector Spring, $2.73.)
        (# 28: Hammer Spring, $5.80.)

        ArrowDodger -Model 60 action assembly
My daughter and I put together a PowerPoint slide show on how to tear-down and re-assemble the Model 60 Action assembly. OttoMears was kind enough to create a PDF of it and BWGSTOCK was kind enough to reduce the file size. Thank you John and Bryan...

No offense but you must have no clue how a Marlin 60 takes down.

The trigger/trigger guard are a separate group from the action where the hammer is located. There is no such thing as pulling the trigger when the assembly is removed because to dissemble you first remove the trigger/trigger guard.

Anyways OP states that he took the action apart. To do this the hammer must be decocked or once the e-clips are removed the actions parts would literally explode under spring tension shooting parts everywhere. To get around this before any disassembly the rifle should be dry fired (or remove the action and put your thumb on the hammer and trip the sear). You then have to insert a paperclip into the hammer strut hole to keep the hammer spring on the strut. Then disassembly of the action may be done.

Also either way when you put the rifle back together whether you insert the action back into the rifle, cocked or decocked pulling back the bolt would cock it.

OP is either missing the Sear spring or Disconnector Spring.

I will take more pics tomorrow. By the looks of it, it seems like I'm missing the spring on the bottom left near that sear/plate looking thing. Thanks for the help so far, will give it another look tomorrow.

Glad to know the part I circled in red is not broken, looked as if it were two broken pieces because of the ware I guess.

My apologies. I have a Model 49 that has a one piece assembly and have had a problem where I accidentally let the hammer fly forward which disengaged it and its spring from where it was connected. Easy fix, but wasn't immediately noticeable. Considering those rifles share a lot of parts and other similarities together, I thought this could have happened to him.

thanks for the heads up i'm not taking mine apart ever again

the front of my triggerguard plastic broke i barely put any torque on it

the plastic they use is closer to dollar tree quality than it is to ruger plastic
