Scope Base and Rings for Savage Mark II

I am getting a Mark II BV, which I think comes with a scope base, but I seem to remember seeing that a lot of people replace the factory part-- what is a quality part to put on there, and what type do I need?

Would like to set this gun up to shoot 1-200 yards.

Replace the bottom metal. They make great scope bases as well. 25MOA if your looking at shooting to 200 yards.

Joebob outfitters has the EGW for $32 with the 0/20 MOA, I just bought the 20 MOA for my Mark II TR I put in jail today FYI the newer Mark II's have the same Ejection Port size 1 5/8" not the 1 3/8 Ejection Port.

I used Weaver Professional Rings and a Bushnell Banner scope.

My fiancee just got a Mark II, she opted for the stock 2-piece mounts, (I think) weaver rings, and a Bushnell Banner 3-9x40.

Eventually will probably upgrade the mount, but for now it can shoot 4x4 plinkers at 150yds no sweat if the shooter can. A scope with BDC or MilDots would be helpful over her Duplex, but it's not too bad.

The DIP mounts and bottom metal do look very nice though, my dad has a trigger guard for a Polish .22 from them and it is top notch.

I just need any 'ole picatinny rings with the correct diameter for my scope, right?

Correct, 2 piece picatinny.

Osis, I believe the idea behind the bottom metal is it is thicker than stock, which is pretty thin. So by going to a thicker piece, the action can be torqued down better without deforming the metal. Theoretically, better constancy would follow. Never used it so I can't comment.

LOL, she will be able to hit her target at 250 with what she has now.

I know it doesn't need an upgrade. Point being, I don't see a need in a fancy 20MOA base for plinking up to 200.
