Marlin 60 won't shoot Federal AE 38gr HV

My understanding is that Model 60's can be picky with different ammo types. You may have to experiment a while to see what your rifle likes. The rifle may be more forgiving after a few hundred rounds but that will take time.

It is also possible the Federal ammo is defective....possibly loaded too light. It would be easier to tell if that were the case if you had a chronograph.....otherwise use the Federal on another firearm and avoid it in the Marlin.

Probably needs more CCI for its break in period?
My old 60 (it was my dad's) would FTE or stove pipe 1 out of 10 rounds of Super X, but ran flawless on any CCI type I fed her. Must've shot over 500 rounds before the Super X ran smoothly. So far she also spits Blazer bulk pack with no issues.

Guess 'I'm just lucky but my old 60 shoots just about anything till it get real dirty.
Then I remove the action from the stock and give it a good blast of gun-scrubber, a shot of oil and then a good shake.................then it's good for another six-seven hundred rounds.
*Possibly it being more then thirty years old might be why it works as well as it does???

Some gun-scrubber, then oil and it's ready to rock and roll!

I have an older 60 and a newer 60. The older one will shoot anything I feed her and is accurate as hell. The newer one is picky, so it just needs more rounds through it. Seems to be a pretty common condition for the 60's.
                Blank for security reasons.

The couple Marlin 60s I've had didn't really like hollow points in general. Try some other round nose ammo and I bet you will be in good shape.

My ten or twelve year old Model 60 has trouble with non jacketed ammo.

That would mean pretty much all .22lr ammo. The copper wash is not the same as being jacketed.

I have a model 99C which is the same older model 60.
It is very finicy with ammo, but like all my .22's it loves the mini mags
