need new finish on S&W 317 .22lr revolver "aluminum"

so I got a new .22 revolver -big whoop some may say, but to me a collector of .22lr's im very excited - I will be picking it up in the those dreadful 10 days, so pics to come soon to this thread.

here is a link to smiths page:

    MY ISSUE:

the gun was originally bought by a friend for his girlfriend and he tried to make it BLING for b/c she said it needed to be more shiny. so he just had to make her happy and he tried to polish it up. one spot on the side of the barrel he polished to bare aluminum and one more on the side of the frame. the gun has a great bore, great lock up, the trigger is stiff but thats how smith makes them i looked at a new one before. I want to get the thing redone. I PM'd AR15Barrels and he said: Best solution I have would be to bead blast all the aluminum parts, then have them anodized.
I don't know what it takes to get the barrel out of a 317 frame though.
Is it an aluminum barrel shroud with a stainless barrel screwed in from the front? SO now I dont know how I feel about what to do. He did say I can bring it by and he can take a better look in person and see whats up. worse comes to worse he said he can bead blast it then of to anodizing.

BUT what about the barrel shroud? should I contract smith and see if they can take it back for new finish? anyone know about the barrel on the aluminum frame S&W revolvers? any and all help would be much appreciated.

if you happen to be a smith in the socal Los Angeles and know about this or want to take on this project please PM me. I still am waiting to post pics when I pic it up. Thank you Calguners

MSRP is 700. saw it new for 659 @ my LGS and I got the homie deal. he paid way too much for it and he beat it up and now they both moved to NY so he sold most of his toys to his dad/brothers (thinking to give dad ones hes gonna get back hopefully <glock 17, springfield 1911 loaded> before CA changes all the gun laws, brothers the ones he didn't want to keep but wanted to shoot once in a while S&W 44, D. Eagle 44) and I picked up his girls little plinker
    I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57

This ^. Smith and Wesson has a very good refinish service. Call and they will get you a return tag and in a few short weeks it will better than new.
