scope and rings for ruger 77/22

Looking to scope my 77/22. Looking for input on rings (low, med, or high), and suggestions on quality scope, but not a bank breaker. Will be used mostly for plinking, and paper at 100 yds or less. Any thoughts on 1 piece base vs 2 piece vs using integral base built into ruger reciever. I'm thinking that due to low recoil just the Ruger type rings will be fine.
Looking for either 2-7 X 28 to 40mm, or 3-9 X 33-40 with paralax adjusted to 50-75 yds. Prefer to stay under $300 for scope.

Is your 77/22 in 22lr, 22wmr or 22 hornet?

I have several of these guns with the original factory scope rings that attach to the factory dovetails.A couple had to have the higher factory rings.If I was starting without rings,I would look at the Burris(I Think)picatinny rail that clamps into the factory dovetails.
Scopes,I like having a BDC type reticle for bullet drop.Nikon Buckmasters 3-9s,Leupold 4-12s,Burris Fullfield 3-9s.
I use all 4 calibers 22LR,22Mag,17HM2,17HMR.I make up a label to stick on the stock for each individual gun with the appropriate scope and bullet drop.
If you want real inexpensive?Check out the BSA line of caliber specific scopes.
While not caliber specific,I have used a couple of the BSA 4-16 with mildot reticles on 10-22s.They are around $50 from Natchez.Once set I do not screw with the tactical knobs.They are not real trackable.They work good though.
On the far end,my friend runs a Nikon Monarch 6-20,BDC reticle on his 77-22Mag.
Keep in mind on scopes made for rimfire usually are parallax set at 50 yds,while other scopes are 100yds.

Ring height is relative to the scope bell in front.40mm obj=standard or medium.44-50 obj=high rings.That Picatinny rail will change what height rings you need.
