    Kimber 82g with a sling?

Has anyone mounted up a sling on their 82g or know the best route? The sling swivel in the front is great, but no attachment points in the rear. Would hate to mess up the wood installing a stud, but that might be my only option to install a web sling. Main purpose is to carry, and for assisting offhand like I am accustomed to. Walking around carrying the gun to chase squirrels gets old after an hour or two.

    Thanks!

You're using an 11 pound match rifle to go on hikes with?

You could get something like one of those ar-15 A2 sling adapters that just velcro over the butt.

Thanks for the replies. I tried the one from my A4 and the back worked well, but the area with the sling is too large on the kimber to wrap around and would hinder the free floating barrel aspect. I have carried more for longer so more a convenience factor and shooting aid more than anything. No hikes, just a sizable pasture area with plenty of squirrels.

I might try making a plate that will fit onto the back where the extensions are, but that will not look anywhere near as nice as an OEM or aftermarket option. Last resort would be an aftermarket stock, but those things are like unicorn tears.

What? There's nothing that wraps around the front with the butt stock adapters I was talking about.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the free floated barrel.

The other end of that sling has everything to do with it. It attaches to the swivel and wraps through or behind the front sight. Everyone I have seen comes that way, unless there is one I am unaware of.

That's not what I'm talking about at all. I even gave you a link. It's an adapter that goes over the butt stock, that's it. It isn't the sling, it's just an adapter to mount a sling. The D ring in the picture that is in the link I provided is what you attach your sling to. You would attach the front end of your sling, to the QD swivel that is on the handstop that came with the kimber.

              Here's a youtube video even http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dd7--dNkq4

Not sure how I can make myself any more clear.

Clearly talking about two different things. The one you linked is a soft point attachment which is why I assumed you were talking about the complete sling as I am more than familiar with. Less than effective for using as a shooting aid as it is very mobile on the stock, as seen in your video regardless of the tension applied, which would not work with a hasty sling. If a web sling would even clip into that it would mar the stock in a big hurry with any use, defeating the point all together.
I do appreciate the input, and it has given me a few good routes to pursue.

Works just fine without much movement(I have one) with a sling used as a hasty sling for support when you aren't putting it on an undersized AK stock.

Post #5 in this thread has a video on a single point, web style sling. Maybe what you need for the 82G, maybe not: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...ighlight=sling

Exactly my intention. I have been doing my offhand shooting with a loop sling, but would like the option to use a hasty sling when I don't have the time to set a loop up. It might be overly picky to want a solid rear attachment point that will not blemish the stock. I was hoping something along the lines of the below images existed as a spacer insert with the 1.25" sling mounting point.

Sounds like a good reason to go tinker in the garage.

Yeah, probably too much time on my hands.
