How do I make my magazines legal?

I have some 30 round magazines for my Remington 597, 2 are Remington 30 round magazines and 1 pro mag. If I take the floor plate off of the Remington magazines and remove the spring and follower is that legal? Can I store all the parts in the same bag? or should I store them separately? The pro mag is glued together I think, If i manage to separate the halves and remove the spring and follower, is it legal? Thanks alot guys!

Well the most important question is, how long have you had those magazine?

If the answer is, "I've possessed them since before January 2000" then you don't need to do anything. Use them all you want, completely legally.

      Small addition, with big implications.

I am living in Illinois, will most likely be in California by septemberish. So before I cross the border should I disassemble them? How should I store them?

You can not import these mags to CA.

What I would do is disassemble before moving to CA and store that way untill you are back to your home town.
AFAIK You can save them all in one single bag as long as all are dissasembled.

So as long as I dissemble them its legal? So I can keep the parts for the magazine but I cannot assemble it?

You can convert them to 10 rounders if you would like to continue using them here. Otherwise, keep them disassembled and stored.

Yes on both counts since you did not legally own them while residing in CA before 2000. You can convert them to 10 rd mags by way of blocking them, then you can legally use them.

i just have used the Trimag, with 3, 10 rounders attached.

The long bananna clip is in the way quite a bit actually.

Ok thanks a lot guys I appreciate it. Also one more question, since .22's are exempt from the awb, my archangel Remington 597 is legal and I can customize it how I want, right?

.22s are not exempt from the AWB.
Rimfire rifles are not listed in the AWB. There is a difference.

Yes you can have features like the archangel stock has (pistol grip, telescoping stock etc).
Just keep it above 26" OAL and 16" barrel. (CA measures from the most compact fireable configuration)

Tri-mags are, to the best of my knowledge, considered to be 3 separate 10 round mags. Perfectly legal.
