    .22 cal K98

The first gun I ever fired was a German K98 when I was about 7 or 8. It's been close to 60 years since then. My father had sent this gun back from Germany at the end of the war. This gun was identical to the regular 8mm issue rifle except it was a 22 cal single-shot training model. I know there are different models of the k98 however, the only model characteristic I remember about the one I fired was the front sight was hooded. I have been looking for one for years and was hoping someone might have a suggestion as to the specific model of it and the availability of them. Thanks.

I believe the model is a Mauser KKW.

If you can't find an original, I believe there's a Chinese copy floating around out there as well.

        Mauser DSM 34
The Norinco TU KKW is a copy, made with a copy of a CZ 452. Very few got imported. One of the few Chinese made rifles that is a real tack driver.

I think I saw one of these at my LGS it was a 22 Mauser brought back from the war. I'll check if they still have it on Tuesday

$600 its on consignment. It's a bring back from WII with no import marks.

$600 isn't too bad...when I was looking at .22 milsurp trainers about 4-5 years ago, I passed on a beautiful Enfield .22 for $400 on Gun Broker (ended up with a nicer M44 Mossberg from the CMP).

Around the same time, my boss picked up a Simpson Mauser .22lr with a tiger striped stock for $850 around that timeframe and then a stockless Mauser .22lr for $250...

Yes, it would qualify as a C&R

This one is almost identical to the one I fired but is missing the hooded front sight. A decent price too.
