Even though I an biased towards Nikon scopes, the PROSTAFF 3-9 Rimfire BDC 150 scope is one heck of a deal. I have one on my 10/22 and have shot steel cows/prairie dogs to 200 yards using the BDC reticle. Very clear and lot of light gathering make this the perfect match.

The BDC works at any magnification. The key is going into Spot On and then you can play around and see how the distances change due to magnification increase or decrease. When we were shooting stell at 200 yards we were using the top of the BDC post as our 200 yard marker. All due to the information we received after entering our data into Spot On Ballistic Program. It is very easy to use, trust me! It does ask you to register so Nikon can keep track of who is using it. So far over 1 million registered users. I use a P-223 3X carbine scope on my comp. carbine rifle just because I like the wide field of view. Sometimes at matches we are shooting to 200+ yards and at 54 years old, my old eyes like a bit more magnification, definitely where a variable power scope comes in handy.
Nikon does have a P-22 2-7 scope that would be a nice compact addition to a 10/22.

The nature of 2nd focal plane scopes means that BDCs work best at full magnification. That's because the relationship between the BDC reticle and the size of the target changes as you zoom the scope. Don't get me wrong though, the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 with BDC is a pretty decent, if large, hunting scope for a 10/22 and I have one on one of my 10/22s. That said I think that the smaller Weaver RV7 2.5-7x28 looks a bit better on a 10/22 and is a bit better scope but it lacks a BDC.
Edit: The Weaver RV4 4x28 rimfire scope is a very good fixed power rimfire scope.Last edited by sholling; 07-29-2013, 9:42 AM."Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT--

I only went with Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40, because I got a great deal on it. I paid $90, shipped for a brand new one, and now I'm really happy with it. Very clear, BDC is awesome, and the sight is bright well into dusk.Weapons Case Hotwire Foam Cutting

That's a good deal on a great little scope. Unfortunately, it is from Dick's Sporting Goods. If you care about gun rights at all you should NEVER do business with Dick's.http://m.dickssportinggoods.com/prod...uctId=12472447
