Interesting new multi-barrel rifle from CZ

Convertible guns have never been that popular in the US. Putting the top up and down is such a pain, and... just kidding. This type of convertible gun allows you to change calibers, shooting two or more types of ammo through the same gun. Europeans, and especially European hunters have always loved convertible guns, but they never really caught on here for some reason. It could be our obsession with rifle accuracy. Even though the average hunter can't shoot within two minutes of basketball (according to famed hunter writer Ross Seyfried), Americans really love the idea of an accurate firearm, one that can, if shot by the right person with the right rest, shoot into the width of a quarter or less at 100 yards, or 1 MOA, for "Minute of Angle." That was the challenge when CZ-USA decided to introduce a rimfire combo gun to the US market. It is called the Model 455 American Combo, and the retail prices start just north of $400. In the box, the gun comes with both .22LR and .17HMR barrels, and changing them out takes only two Allen wrenches, included with the gun. We shot our pictures of the test gun in the field, so you can see how easy it swaps, and the accuracy on both barrels is closer to 1/2MOA than 1MOA. The CZ 455 comes in a polymer stock configuration, a competition stock, even a Mannlicher style stock with hi-lux wood, in addition to the basic Walnut you see here. If you have longed for an old world style bolt rimfire, this CZ 455 offers you both the classic look and feel of the 50s and 60s, with the ability to convert from a .22LR plinker to a .17HMR hunting rifle, and you can get a .22WMR barrel as well.

good. i recommend you not get one, more for the rest of us.
if you're talking 22 lr you're gonna be stringing them up and down due to distance and brand anyway. 17 not so much. i've never had to adjust left or right more than a click or 4.

So essentially, your are buying a quality .17HMR or .22 WMR that you can also shoot .22 LR out of with a simple barrel change but having to re-zero.

I think they'll make enough and you aren't going to buy some many that you'd find one additional or less in the market that much of a gain or loss. But maybe math isn't a strong suit for you it seems.

            I've got a switch barrel SAKO Quad Synthetic, it shoots .17 Mach 2, .22 LR, .17 HMR, & .22 WMR: http://www.sako.fi/sakoquad.php

Their system allows the barrel swap without losing POI. However, the whole set is about 3x the price of the CZ. Burris made a special scope for it called (appropriately enough) the Quad scope. It has 4 different turrets for the 4 different barrels:

The scope was WAY tougher to find than the rifle!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
            Come on...what harm??

CZ rimfires are probably the best in the market in their price range. The switching of the barrel is a feature in their 455 models which they are slowly changing the 452's over to.

Great thing about the CZ is it is a great rifle that you can grow into. Aside from easily multi caliber changes, it offers match barrels for Olympic quality groups from Lilja if that is a route you want to head.

Grab a CZ 452 American in left handed while you still can.......

You can thank me after you shoot it.

Not that new and I have the cz 455 American in 22lr and 22wmr.

The poi doesn't change that much and the change is predictable. I torque the barrel to the same weight every time and the 22wmr poi is just a little higher then the 22lr. Three shots and I'm re zeroed. I can't find any 22wmr and I only have about 150 rounds left so I've been keeping it in the 22lr set up.

I don't have any complaints with the gun or the barrel change system

Interesting and thanks for the info. What do you torque it to? I have a small precision Italian torque wrench I use for servicing my bikes that reads in kN and ft-lbs so either one.

I can't remember off the top of my head because I haven't changed the barrel put in a few months. I just leave the wrench set to the same poundage so I don't have to remember it. I think it's right around 25 inch lbs. You can get a torque wrench from harbor freight in inch lbs for about $10

Just a FYI, but I've always heard to never leave a torque wrench set because it will loose accuracy over time and the values will change. It was explained to me the same as leaving a fishing reel with the drag tightened down, if that makes sense.
