Where to find a Ruger 10/22 Target model?

I want to replace the 10/22 I purchased back in the 80s and foolishly sold during lean times.

I've been asking around and looking on-line without much success. I prefer to purchase locally but would consider a CA-friendly web vendor.

This is the model I'm looking for is: #10/22-T / Ruger 10/22 Target Autoloading Rifle

For the well-intentioned, I'm already adequately aware that I could purchase custom parts and build my own custom target rifle or purchase a base model 10/22 and then replace most of the gun with upgrades.

Thanks in advance for any leads on where I can buy the factory target rifle!

have not seen one of those instore, but for $529 I believe you can covert a basic carbine into a hogue stock and a bull barrel.

My advise would be find a local shop that sells a lot of 10-22s.Ask them to hold one or notify you when they have one.I am currently waiting on a takedown model.

Most shops sell out on 10-22s as soon as they show up.

Go to your LGS and ask if they can order it for you, and an estimate on how long it would take to get it. When I went into Turner's, they said that they could order any current long gun, but they could not guaranty a time frame of when I would get it. They told me that the special versions of the 10/22, like the one you wanted, or the Ruger model 1230, the target tactical version that I wanted, were in extremely limited production, due to the high demand of the more standard versions of the 10/22s.

$529 is MSRP. Street price is more like $325 - $375.

Best I've seen in LGS for any 10/22 is like $50 to $60 below MSRP.

Also could try to convince this guy.

I have a friend living through this process at Turners. He ordered a Cugir AK last November, paid in full and is still waiting. I was hoping to find one of these Rugers before end-of-year when long gun registration starts. I may have to compromise and go the more expensive route of building...

Might be interested if the price is right...wasn't really looking for a "limited edition" though.

I was also looking for a 10/22 target model and it took me over a year to find one in a gun shop. Even before all the craziness they were scarce and now they're almost impossible to find.

Fortunately I walked in High Desert Storm Sporting in Palmdale at the right time (last month) and they had a stainless model on the rack that I immediately snatched up. I'm not sure how often they have them in stock but the place might be worth a try.

Thanks for the link. Bakersfield is quite a drive for me and that's a bit pricey for a twice used rifle with a scope I don't want. I also previously underestimated the price range based on something I found at Bass Pro Shop that is called "Target" yet it was not the Target model after closer inspection. I may just end up building it after all.
