Help with a GSG MP5

I own a GSG MP5 and it has started having problems. It stovepipes, soft strikes, and has just become generally unreliable. It has always been well cared for, cleaned and lubed. It worked flawlessly for a long time, then slowly started stovepiping and soft striking more and more. It now won't make it through a 10 round mag without at least one failure of some sort.

The gun used to work great with just about any .22 round, and now even using the CCI Stingers or mini-mags, it struggles.

I have multiple mags, for it, so it does not appear to be some sort of a feed issue. I took it to a gunsmith in the northern part of San Diego county who charged me $100 for a "thorough cleaning and polished the internals" and insisted that was all it needed. (Although it was clean when I brought it to them.)

I, not being a gunsmith, didn't want to argue so I paid the money and they said that it shot flawlessly when they were done with it. I took it to the range and it immediately shot the same way it did before they worked on it. Softstriking and stovepiping its way through every mag.

soooo... I am looking for a gunsmith that knows how to work on these guns, and can diagnose and repair what ever is going on. Any thoughts or suggestions on who to reach out to? I'm happy to ship it out to someone who can get it working properly again, it is a really fun gun to plink with.

My guess would be that you need to replace springs.
How many rounds do you have through it?

Sounds just like mine, sent it back to ATI and got it back working like new again. Firing pins get finiky over time on those things. Call ahead and get RA number to include on shipping label. 800-290-0065 is number. No charge to you just three weeks time and $20 to FedEx.

And if you send a mag, be sure it is CA complaint.

I was also experiencing the same especially, with the dirty bulk pack Remington Golden Bullets. So, I am curious if you have tried putting a round into the "bolt" (if I am using the correct term) to see if the extractor would hold on or clamp onto the round or does it just fall off? Unlike my other rimfire pistol or rifle when I put a round into the action the round stays in place because the extractor clamps onto the ammo. I also noticed the base of the casing sits deep into the action bullet groove and the tip of the extractor shows slight wear due to rubbing against the barrel when the "bolt" closes and opens. I have shot only about less than 5K rounds or various ammos. The last time I used the rifle I shot 100 rds or cci mini mags and 50 rounds of win super X silver box. I experienced some misfires but mostly from the super X ammos. However, all ammos that fired extracted w/o issues including the ones that misfired the first time that fired after the 2nd or 3rd time I shot them. Thus, the rifle seems to work fine, however, I am still worried that the extractor might have an issue being it's tip has abnormal wear, hence, it does not clamp onto the rim of the ammo... Does your gsg or any rimfire pistol or rifle do the same and works fine? Or do you agree my extractor could be defective? Or is GSG522 just picky with ammos? Appreciate your response.
