    10/22 bolt lock back

I decked out my 10/22 so it's a dead ringer for a M1 Carbine (stock, tech sights). I count the shots so I don't dry fire by mistake. I loaned it to a friend recently to try out (the longer sight radius pays dividends at distance) and winced when he dry fired on shot #11. I am wondering if there is any way to make the bolt lock open on the last round???
    Thank you.

The 10/22 can be dry-fired all you want without damage, so don't worry about it for this gun.

There are last-shot-bolt-lock-back kits, but they are expensive and require special mags to work.

There might be a kit (search for a volquartsen kit) but it's not really worth it because the 10/22 can be dry fired just fine. It's not like the old WW2 .22lr trainers that had weak firing pins and breech faces that were easily dinged up...the 10/22 is sorta built like a tank, it can handle the abuse of dry fire.

I think hawktecharms sells mags that will lock the bolt after the last round...check it out. Expensive tho to replace all your mags....

Dang. I had no idea that it's OK to dryfire the 10/22. I have grown up all these years thinking that a rimfire dryfire was a sacrilege punishable by a fate worse than death...... Ha ha. Thank you one and all. That really takes the pressure off me too. Now I can concentrate more on shooting and not on counting. Heck. Your info may even tighten my groups!!
              Thanks a million.

I built a bullet counter for mine. Flashes yellow when the last round is in the chamber, Red when mag is empty. Can be set for 10 or 25 round mags.
Would there be any interest in such a product?

CZ 452 manual tells you to dryfire when clearing the rifle.

I have dry-fired my 10/22 thousands of times. No problems. Not all rimfire firearms are built equal. Some I wouldn't do it with, some it is no problem.

I'm going to go in this direction too. Can you post some photos of your build?
A good rifle build isn't cheap, but a bad one can be expensive!

I'm not intending to hijack the thread but I believe the question was answered. So, if I might ask since that build looks amazing; what stock kit was it and is that the new rail mount tech sight?

I would be interested in a last shot indicator light as stated above, if it was simple to install and cost was not too much.

Actually, the Marlin 795 rear tech sight is what you'd use if you want a dovetail rail tech sight, and you'd need the special front sight that matches.
