Black Dog mags not working out...

Picked up two black dog mags at LGS, guy behind the counter ensured me they would work in my CMMG upper/NFA lower rifle. With both mags, at least one round feeds into the bolt carrier vertically which obviously causes a jam that requires pliers to remove.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not meant to be? For the record, the same ammo feeds flawlessly using te CMMG evolution mag that I bought last year with the upper.

Here is a link to the same mags I bought:

Website says new x form 4th gen with steel feed lips.

I didn't take a pic of the jam but I bet I could replicate it later with dummy rounds and snap a pic.

          That is strange.
          Those are their newest mags.
          Call blackdog.
They are pretty good on cutomer service.

I have never had a problem with Blackdog mags with my CMMG .22 lr upper. I do only use the steel lip ones, though.

              I would contact Blackdog

Blackdog Mags are fantastic. You probably have a follower issue. Call Blackdog and let them know what is going on. They will send you different followers for free. They have great service and will take care of you.

FWIW- I bought a couple of used Black Dog .22lr mags for my CMMG .22lr upper. First 5-6 rounds would feed no problem. Then it would jam just like you describe.

I figured it was because the mags were used (and a little abused)- followers would catch a bit at the top etc. Although mine are slightly different than the ones in the link above. I believe mine have plastic feed lips.

Looking forward to what you find out.

The plastic lips will expand over time. Happened to my BDM mags. Go with the metal lipped versions and you are good to go.

I only run black dog. Metal and plastic feed lips. No issues w/ 8 mags all different types of black dog.
I had an early issue of my cmmg feeding vertically. I solved the problem by buzzing and polishing the feed ramp and chamber. No ftc now.

Does anyone make 10 round conversion kits so new hicap rebuild kits can be built into 10 round mags?
