    10/22 scout build in progress

Took this rifle out a few weeks ago. Off the bat it was hitting 10" steel plates from 100yrds without any adjustment to the MBUS sights after installing.

    Scout rail = $30
    MBUS pts = $10
Red dot = free (given to me, need riser for picatinny)
Auto Bolt release = free (buddy had an extra plate)
Still waiting on a few parts (skeletonized charging handle, threaded muzzle adapter/muzzle break. Don't know if I'll add an extended mag release or not.
Here is how it looks so far, once I get more put together I'll update with pics!

I got a few modified BX25 mags that are blocked for 10rnds. Still waiting on parts but got the muzzle adapter and picatinny riser on. Co-witness lines up perfectly! Knocked out the front sight when I added the muzzle break........... Next week I should have some more parts in for some new pics.

Ordered a barrel adapter with top and bottom picatinny rail. Going to mount behind muzzle brake, move front MBUS to that rail. Once I do that I am going to move the red dot up to where the front MBUS is at now, possibly get a 3x magnifier for the red dot. Remove laser (I have a low profile one that will mount on bottom front picatinny rail). I dont know how that will look but I guess I will find out!

I love the rifle, but what's the point of doing this? Are you doing tactical reloads with your 10/22 and the 10 rounders aren't easy enough to jam into the gun in a hurry?

Anything over 10rnds in California is illegal. I moved out of California a few weeks ago and now live in Virginia. I can pretty much get my hands on ANYTHING my heart desires now. No more waiting periods!

Way overkill but this rifle now has the option of red dot (co-witness), MBUS (used a barrel rail and attached to the flash hider for better radius) and a laser. Doesn't look the prettiest but it is fun to shoot and accurate in this set up. Standing I can hit an 8" steel plate at 100 yards all day. Their are 2 - 10rnd backup mags in the riser/stock pouch just in case.

It's funny, you actually hindered your "scout" abilities by adding all that crap. A stock 10/22 with a trimag would be more practical and easier to shoot quickly.

                      Agree.

I think money is better spent on accurizing upgrades...

But if I were going to build up a scout rifle from a 10/22, I would have changed the stock to this: (dark brown option)

Shop rifle parts (2,516) at Brownells, including barrels, stocks, triggers, and bolt carriers to customize, repair, or upgrade your rifle’s performance.

and gone with tech sights like these:

                      But that's just me...

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

The only dedicated part is the scout rail (set me back 30 bucks). The rest of the parts can be used on any rifle we own. I notice with the setup acquiring targets is much faster than when using just normal sights (main purpose I built it like this). I wanted to be able to interchange parts with other rifles instead of dedicating the money to the 10/22 only. I have been considering to replace the sights/rail with one of these - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/259...-22-steel-blue
