Tactical Solutions X-Ring Receiver with another brand barrel?

    I have a few 10-22 builds that I have been working on/planning.
I put a Volquartsen stainless THM Tension barrel on a stainless factory receiver with a custom Rimfire Technologies trigger assembly on a Raptor laminated stock. I custom bedded it and it is solid as a rock.
Now I have a Tactical Solutions X-Ring receiver in silver and TacSol trigger assembly in black. X-Ring barrels are impossible to find right now (the threaded barrels anyway) so I was thinking of using the TacSol parts with the Volquartsen barrel. Is there any reason that the Volquartsen barrel (stainless steel) should not be used with the TacSol receiver?
I think that the Volquartsen is probably a better barrel, but who knows.
    Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Thanks 3GG. I did find one that was in stock and in the color I wanted, so I TRIED to order it. I think that it was Shooters Discount Center, but cannot remember. Anyway, I placed the item in my basket, but the site would not process the order to CA. I called and asked why and they said that it was because it was a threaded barrel (which prompted another thread HERE).
I did end up ordering one from R&S Precision Sports and should get it tomorrow. I was going back and forth on whether or not to take my Volquartsen Match barrel off of another rifle to use with the X-Ring receiver, or to do another custom build and use all Tactical Solutions parts.
Needless to say, I am now broke and will have another 10-22 to add to the arsenal (if I can ever afford to shoot it!). I guess that if I am not happy with one of them I can always sell it.
      Thanks again,
      Ken

You can use whatever barrel you want in an x-ring receiver. Not sure why you would think that you couldn't. I have a whistle pig in mine. It uses the standard mounting method with a v block that any other standard 10/22(or clone) receiver does.

Thanks Merc. I guess I was thinking more in terms of feel rather than fit. The Volquartsen barrels are pretty heavy, while the TacSol receiver is VERY lightweight, so I wasn't sure if I should stick with the lighter weight barrel. Does that make any sense at all? The other thing I was thinking about is that the Volquartsen is a Match barrel, while the TacSol???
Guess I was just looking for some input as to the match-up, I just didn't phrase the question properly.
          Thanks again,

Unless you find someone making a steel receiver, you're always going to have that balance issue. Then again, even with a steel receiver, it's going to be front heavy anyway if you're just holding the barreled action.

If you need to balance the rifle better, weigh the rear of the stock down(there are a number of ways to do this).
