Most firing springs are still under compression with the firing pin forward.
Modern springs do not wear out from being left compressed, they wear out from cycling. So every time you dry fire it when you store it, it adds another cycle to the spring.
Old habits die hard though and I habitually hold the trigger back when I close the bolt after checking/cleaning them before they go in the safe.
