    Boyd's Blaster stock

Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a new stock for my 10/22. Any thoughts or feedback on the Boyd's Blaster? They are $99.00, all other stocks I've looked at in that design are about $175.00.

I don't have that exact stock but I have 2 Boyds stocks.
They are amazing quality for the price. So if it scares you that they are so much cheaper than the competition don't be. I believe they do much more business so that is why they can be cheaper than the competition.

PS I also plan on picking up a blaster or Evo from them someday.

Couple of boyd's stocks here as well. The unfinished was annoying, but it was unfinished. The finished model was just fine out of the box. I don't have and haven't shot anything with the blaster style stock on it, not particularly fond of how high the comb is either, seems like it'll force you to use higher scope rings.

Owner of 4 Boyd's stocks here. Great for the $$$ and all were drop in fit for my rifles, no work needed. I even got one of their unfinished stocks and finished with the Amoral/True Oil method and was beautiful. They make the thumbhole stocks for Savage Firearms. Don't know about the blaster but if they made one for a Marlin or Savage bolt action I'd own one.

I bought this Boyd's Blaster probably 10 years ago. Great stock. I have no idea how much a paid but I did get it already finished. This is actually my most accurate 10/22.

Thanks for the response guys. Is that a 40mm scope you have mounted? I plan on using a 40mm scope on a Leupold base and tall rings, I'm hoping this will be ok with the tall cheek weld in the stock for a good line of sight for the scope.

              Ya that's a Simmons 40mm ATV.
It's a super nice little scope. Believe it or not about 11 or 12 years ago I walked into a Walmart and they put them on clearance for $20
I almost fell over. I told the clerk I'd take all of them that they have. They only had two. I called 5 other Walmarts but found no more.

Here's another one of mine. This one has a 50mm scope, a 20" barrel instead of an 18" (like the one above). And a Bell&Carlson stock. I believe these stocks are around $100 also if you want something more for bench shooting.

Boyd's makes nice stocks but I personally prefer solid walnut, something Boyd's isn't doing a lot of any more. Revolution makes a clone in walnut that you may want to look at.

I have one of the Blaster stocks from 10 years ago and a buddy got one about 6 months ago. Both were excellent fit and finish. The comb height is just right for me.

does anyone know if the much more appealing (IMO) .920 barrel specific stocks will work with a regular factory 10/22 barrel? what modifications would be needed? the SS evolution stock is the only one i see not for a 920 barrel and i think its hideous.

i'm looking at the boyd stocks for my marlin 925 as well with the same problem. all the stocks for a heavy barrel look great and the one designated for "any barrel" is ugly.
                        I don't own any guns...they're dangerous.

Sure you can put a factory barrel into one cut for a bull barrel no mods needed.
Its just going to have a larger groove cut for the barrel, it will just make it really free floated

can't be good to have a barrel just flopping around in the stock. how much free float is too much?

Whole point of free float is it makes no contact.
Theres no such thing as too much free float it either is making contact or not.
Most people consider being able to slip a dollar bill between the barrel and stock enough.
Maybe aesthetically it might look weird to have more space than that ...

Take the Axiom stock for example:
