10/22 build party

I have seen a lot of people who are arranging AR and AK build parties, but there doesn't deem to be much interest in 10/22. Any reason?

The supply from Ruger seems to be a little on the tight side.

Good question.

My guess is that the volume is not high enough. And you can do fine-either with a jig or old school in a Bridgeport mill. The Razor's I did were easy and shoot well. Some have done it with a drill press using the guide on SelectFire's site.

Guess I don't know where you live, but I can find Ruger 10/22's i my area. Even though the prices can be a tad hjgher here up North, it still costs way more to build your own from an 80%. That said, I would still like to do one some day. If I were to do one, I think I would want the .22 mag version. I think people were focused on the Ar's thinking they were first to be outlawed here in CA. Now, perhaps that will change since it looks like even the 10/22 will have to be a safe queen in the not so distant future.

Receiver blanks? Only ones I have seen are billet or forged.

Has anyone done the work to program the CNC to work an 80% 10/22?

You dont need a CNC to do a 10/22 80%... Its just a series of holes you drill with a drill press... It takes ~20 minutes.
