Tech Sights and Marlin 60 = Win

This is what my new Marlin 60 did today at 25 yards with Tech Sights, sand bag on the front:


Shots 1-4 were sighting it in (I was adjusting the sight in the wrong direction, derr derr), and shot 5 was spot on after I corrected my mis-adjustments so I continued on from there with a shot every 2 seconds and you can see the result. The Tech Sights are pretty awesome indeed! I'll have to order another pair or two or three for some other 22s

I almost never shoot my 10/22 because the Marlins are more accurate. I don't want to have to spend $300-$500 on top of the more expensive 10/22 to get it to be an equal.

My Marlin 795 is pretty accurate, but has jamming issues.

I took it to an appleseed with techsights, but my eyes aren't good enough, so I bought a scope (my first ever scope) Saturday evening and stuck it on there. On Sunday, it was 9 FEET off (I didn't zero it at all) so I lost some time there. Then once it was zeroed ... it drifted due to crappy rings and my crappy tightening of the rings.

What a waste of Tech-sights! But then ...

I bought a 10/22 TD and bought the Tech-sight front post for it. The Marlin Techsights fit on a dovetail rail, and the 10/22 comes with a dovetail rail ... so ... the 10/22 will now wear the tech sights on it's rail, which helps it stay in the takedown bag nice and compact without a scope. Win/win!

Seriously, I was more consistent with the tech-sights on the Marlin than the scope. I had nice groups, but they weren't on target because the appleseed small targets were too small for my old eyes.

Won't a stock 10/22 do a group like this or better? I've only had two 10/22s, but both would easily do this size group or tighter stock, especially with cci standard velocity. Was I just lucky?

sure but the marlin is way better gun imo. Big boy size stock, the stock sights are way better, last shot open feature on the newer models, better barrel, and 50 dollars cheaper. The reason why no aftermarket support for the marlin mod60 is because it's a great gun out of the box.
I'm tempted to sell my 10/22 since it never gets used.

This is the biggest gripe I have with my 10/22. I'm only 5'8, and it's too short for me. I'll probably be getting a Boyd's to replace it, but I don't feel too bad because I picked it up for about $160 used.
