Need help: Volquartsen 10/22 Hammer Kit FTF

Just installed Volquartsen 10/22 Hammer Kit kit last night and shot this morning. Trigger felt good, but had a lot of fail to fire.

-Used bulk Win 555
-2 different mags
-Used same box of ammo and magazines last week w/o prob
-hand fed and still ftf

Possible light strike? Sorry, I didn't inspect the FTF rounds.
Should I re-install stock hammer spring and/or sear spring?

Also, Bolt release works half the time.

Put back the stock sear spring and see how it goes. I installed mine using the stock spring and it works fine.

I've read that the VQ spring is weaker than stock, not sure which spring you use? I have a VQ hammer/sear & used it with my ruger trigger spring, worked well. I've since had my steel trigger re=worked & like it, no take up, or overtravel.

I used everything in the kit except the plunger spring (is that the one behind the trigger?)

I'll change the hammer spring back to stock and try again next weekend. I'll bring the sear spring just in case.

Win555 is total crap. Change the ammo and you might be fine

Might be the ammo. I've had a few ftf with the Winchester 555 in a few 22lr guns.

Yeah, try a different type of ammo.

I'm gonna bring some rem thunderbolt, rem subsonic, cci mini mag & win 555. I'm also bringing the stock parts. This weekend is full of kid's sports so maybe next week.

One thing people rarely check is the firing pin spring on a 10/22. I bought a new stainless 10/22 in 1999, it never functioned/fired very well. I finally took the firing pin out & the spring was installed backwards & bent. I called Volquartsen to confirm this & was told it's common. One end has the small pigtail on it, they bend.

After years of shooting & learning my 10/22 I love those guns now!

I didn't touch the firing pin spring when I "upgraded", but I'll keep it in mind. The rifle functioned fine prior to the conversion. I'm really hoping it's the firing pin spring or a weak hammer spring b/c I don't like firearms that are picky about ammo.

I used the stock spring behind the hammer and had no problems. I think the company I bought the Volquartsen 10/22 Hammer kit from told me to stay with the stock spring.
Could be ammo, but have shot lots of Win 555 without issue.

Changed hammer spring back to stock and prob went away. Also cleaned it REALLY well - rifle was circa 1986 and was kinda mucked. About 2K rds later and no issues.
