    JC higgins Model 80 concerns

Hi everyone, I have recently been looking at a JC higgins Model 80 handgun. From what I have been reading the gun was manufactured by High Standard for the company. I do not have much experience with these pistols, but this one seems to be in fairly decent condition.

I have a quick question regarding these pistols however, and a slight concern with the gun in general. Upon inspecting the left side of the gun I noticed in the barrel notch where the extractor makes contact with the barrel, the thinner metal of the barrel at that point is beveled from the contact. This bothers me because it is even thinner in this area then it would be because of the contact being made.

I really wanted to know if this wear is normal on these pistols. It seems to be really well made. I searched the web but these pistols and their high standard brethren seem to not have many threads dedicated to this, which leads me to believe its either rare, or extremely common and a non issue. Thank you to everyone in advance for taking the time to answer this question.

I have included the best pictures I could take of what I am talking about.

I don't see any wear, contact yes, but no deformation. Your pistol looks fine from what I can see.

The extractor has to go somewhere, and it still needs enough case rim exposed to grasp firmly.

Do inspect fired cases, look for any bulges near the marks left by the extractor.

Thank you. The little dent is what i was referring too. I know its not too bad but it was a point of concern for me just because I know that the barrel is probably is next to irreplaceable should it be a big issue ever
